Hiroyuki Takei, Shaman King, Jumbor, and Ultimo News Source
The upcoming Februrary issue of Jump SQ will feature it’s last chapter of Ultimo in it’s magazine. Instead of being cancelled however, it is being moved into Jump SQ’s spin-off magazine, Jump SQ 19 (ジャンプSQ.19). This magazine is designed for spin-off and oneshots. It releases on the 19th day every February, May, August, and November. However, it will not be moving to Jump SQ19 until the May issue.
In the last year, the Ultimo series has seen a large drop in sales numbers, as well as the reader’s poll for the magazine. The series never built the same fanbase as did with Shaman King, and the continued excitement of Shaman King Zero and Jumbor would also be a key cause. Hiroyuki Takei is also having trouble releasing 3 different chapters a month, as Jumbor was absent from the most recent Ultra Jump issue.
With this latest move to Jump SQ 19, Ultimo has been in every magazine in the Jump SQ line-up besides the first sample issue.

Oh, no…I really want ULTIMO to keep going…I hope it isn’t rushed to a conclusion. There are so many things Takei could do with the series if he’d just stop running Shaman King into the ground. Yeah, it was a great series, but he needs to stop after a while. He’s doing the same with it as with what’s happened with Naruto. No manga series should last forever. I was happy to see him do this new series and I really like it. I think he should put his attention on it instead of SK. The reason it has such a little fanbase is because he’s not really focusing on it. If he’d focus more on it, more people would be likely to read it.

Toxxic, no, just ’cause the series writer focuses everything on it, does not mean the public will.
Anyway. I’m really lookin’ forward to seeing the Ultimo series start up again, I hope they start scantalating it again~!! I really am lookin’ forward to the new Shaman King: Flowers series, sounds cool!

Actually, if an author focuses on a series, people will pay more attention to it because he’s focusing on it. Because he’s focusing on Shaman King, most people are paying attention to that, am I right? ULTIMO has such potential to become just as good of a series as Shaman king, but at this rate, it’s going no where. I didn’t mean to stir up trouble, I was just putting my opinion out there.
Personally, I’m just glad that it’s not stopping entirely.

Well, yeah. Now that I think about it, that is true. -_-; hm…With Hiroyuki Takei being a popular author, that probably is true than with others, huh? Ah, well. I still want Flowers to keep going. A Shaman who can’t go for the Shaman tournament, is something I was curious about…Haha. I heard this magazine only comes out four times a year…?!

Actually, it’s six times a year now.
And I agree, Flowers is pretty interesting, I wanna see where he’s going with that. Like I said, I don’t want it to stop entirely, I just think that he should make THAT his side manga, not ULTIMO.

Cool.
I wasn’t aware that Ultimo was a side manga. I don’t think either should be a side manga. If he’s gonna work on two, he should try to focus on both when he can. It isn’t fair to either if they’re just side manga.
