Jump Festa Flyer Contains More KZB News

Jump Festa 2009 Shaman King KZB FlyerFrom December 20th through 21st, Shueisha holds it’s annual “Jump Festa” a convention in honor of all of their properties. Last year, this was the method of where the Shaman King “Kang Zeng Bang” were originally announced. Now a year later, the conclusion of Shaman King and the Kang Zeng Bang is announced in a new set of flyer handed out at the event.

The attached image shows the first flyer handed out. The character’s shown are Hao and Yoh with the final O.S. along with several pieces of new information. Going across the top (left to right), the summery of the headlines are:

1. Both KZB volumes 26 and 27 will have new chapters that will complete the final ending.
2. In volume 24 there will be 2 new chapters about the Marco and Luchist fight (as previously mentioned).
3. There will be “something” special for the 360th drawing in the Shaman File in full color.
4. There will be additional corrections that will lead up to the final complete ending of the Shaman King series.

As Takei moves towards the end, he’s playing alot on the number 4, seeing has the final volume will come out in April, thus there were the four points above which help build up to it. It’s possible the number four will also have some meaning in the new chapters.

At the bottom of the flyer, though cut off, a few more release dates have been announced. They are as followed:

KZB 21-22 : Jan. 5th
KZB 23-24: Feb. 4th
KZB 25-26: Mar. 4th

As we get more information or a larger scan of the flyer, we will keep you posted on the details!

First new SK chapters in 5 years in Feb09

KZB24-adIn a shocking development today, it will be annouced in this upcoming week’s Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan that in volume 24 of the Shaman King Kang Zeng Bang (reprint) will contain 2 new chapters. These chapters will take up 36 pages and be named chapters 265 and 266. All chapters after this point will be renumbered in remaining Kang Zeng Bang volumes. The two chapters will feature the Marco and Luchist fight which was not originally included in the manga. In the ad panels from the new chapters were also included. Although not stated in ad, it’s unlikely that Takei’s oneshot “Exotica” and special “Diary of Exotica” will be included in the Kang Zeng Bang reprints. These chapters will probably help fill this gap, even though those two extras contained many more pages.

Viz has not taken any of the changed artwork, titles, or extras created for the Kang Zeng Bang for their initial print of the Shaman King manga in English for the United States. As of right now, it seems unlikely that they will follow the new numbering system, but we will keep you updated if they make a comment on this.

Shaman King Kang Zeng Bang volumes 23 and 24 will be released in Japan on Feb. 4th, 2009 and contain chapters originally released in volumes 29-30. The final volume of the Kang Zeng Bang (volume 27) will be release in early April 2009 in Japan.

As more details are released, this article may be updated, or new articles will be posted. A complete Kang Zeng Bang guide will be posted on Shaman King Nation before the end of the year which will help point out the differences between the Kang Zeng Bang and the original Japanese print.
