Shaman King Flowers Volume 1 sales numbers

Week 1:

Rank 6th
New sales: 58,192

Week 2:

Rank: 11th
New sales: 56,459
Total: 114,651

If you notice that the copies are always just under the 60,000 mark. This is because each print run for Shaman King Flowers volume 1 was 60,000 copies. So when volume 2 goes on sale early next year, it’s likely that it will get a starting print run of 80,000 copies for the first week. Either way these are great sales numbers for Shaman King Flowers!

Borders helps Ultimo remain on the Best Sellers list

In an interesting development, Ultimo volume 1 continues to remain on the New York Times Best Selling manga list for August 28th through September 3rd. As reported last week, the first volume made a suprise return to the best selling list last week at seventh place since it’s first release. This week it rose up to 2nd place, and being the highest selling actual manga on the list (slot #1 was taken by a graphic novel not printed in Japan). This is the highest position Ultimo has ever been on the list. It’s high ranking is directly connected to Borders going out of business and their closing sales. Currently all manga are 70% off, which brings the cost of one of these volumes down to $3 USD. Many stores still have copies of both volume 1 and 2 in stock. However, most of the stores are set to close this weekend. So if you are looking to pick up these first two volumes for their cheapest price, now is the time. It’s also possible that Ultimo will remain on the list next week. However there was a series of new volumes released this past week (including Ultimo volume 6) which may lower Ultimo’s standing on the list.

Borders Helps Bring Ultimo to the Top Manga Selling List

In an unexpected turn of events, the first volume of the Ultimo manga has resurfaced on the New York Times Best Selling Mangas for the week of August 21st. This is not the latest volume (number 6) that will be released this upcoming Tuesday (some stores may not have the volumes on Tuesday because of the holiday weekend). There were very few high profile manga releases that week which may have helped some lower sales gain a higher place on the list. However, the biggest factor to Ultimo’s ranking of 7th was due primarily to the closing of the Borders chain of bookstores. Many of the remaining open stores had an excess of Ultimo volume #1 (as many as 6 volumes per store). With their closing sales ranging from 40%-60% off MSRP many volumes of manga were quickly flying off the shelves. For those looking to start up a new series at a reduced price, Ultimo volume 1 was the deal to get since through the closing sale it was primiarly one of the few series that had extra copies of volume 1.

Ultimo volume 6 will be in your local bookstores and online on Tuesday September 6th. Shaman King Nation will have a full volume review shortly after.

Shaman King Perfect Edition Vol 1 to be Published in Italy in Oct [UPDATED]

[UPDATED] The original news post said that it would still include the “Oversoul covers,” this is a mistake. There is only one cover, and that image is the same as the Japanese cover with the “Oversoul cover” image pressed together.

On October 27th, the first volume of the “Shaman King Perfect Edition” will go on sale in Italy by Star Comics. The price will be  € 5.90 and will be released monthly.  It has also been confirmed that the cover art of the volumes will be the same as the Japanese editions (including all of the original Japanese, and not including the publisher on the cover).  The Italian editions will combine the covers into a single image (as shown to the left). It’s not confirmed if the binding art will remain the same as well.

We will continue to follow as new volumes are being released in Italy.
