Ultimate KZB Guide | Shaman King Nation

Welcome to the Ultimate Kang Zeng Bang Guide! This guide will hopefully help you have a better understanding on what is contained in each and every reprint volume in Japan.

The Shaman King Kang Zeng Bang are basically reprints of the original Shaman King manga. In Japanese, these are called “シャーマンキング　完全版” which translates to “Shaman King kanzenban” or “Shaman King, the complete collection.” However, promotional ads have referred to them as “Kang Zeng Bang.” The reasoning behind this is unknown. There are multiple theories on why this is the case but no official announcement was made. The official website for these Kang Zeng Bang can be found here; http://annex.s-manga.net/shamanking/ (Japanese language only, no region blocking, flash site). Currently these volumes are only being printed in Japan. Shaman King manga licensors in Mexico, France, and Italy are aware of these reprints but have not made plans to release these in their respective countries yet.

There are several difference between these volumes and the original print in Japan. These volumes have some minor art and text changes, contain new extras, brand new covers, and has a new ending. The extras include the following:

A new cover page, which is a single full color page with a famous quote. Which is followed by…
A two page full color spread of an expanded version of the photograph with one or two Shaman King characters drawn into the scenery.
4 pages of Shaman Files, a section with full color images of characters (including unseen characters in the manga) with profiles and summaries. Many characters are drawn in their alternate clothing as well.
Starting with Volume 22 of the reprints, Takei added an additional page to the end of the volume. These are titled “Visionz.” On this page is an image of what a character would look like in the future. At this time, we don’t have information describing what year this image from in the Shaman King universe nor if there is any additional information along with this image. Following this image is the reprint of the Funbari No Utra chapters.

Along with this, in Japan, when you purchase 9 volumes, you can mail in for a collection of pins. Each pin is connected with a volume plus a bonus pin is included in each set. Finally, each month, a single volume contains a removable insert called “The Last Words.” This is a 4 page insert with the following contents:

Starting in Volume 24 of the reprints, new chapters were added to the Shaman King manga. There are two new chapter in Volume 24, at least 1 new chapter in volume 26, and the entire volume 27 contains new chapters. Because of these new chapters, the chapter numbers for the ending volumes is different from the original release. For this reason, in the notes sections below each volume will include the original chapter numbers for your reference (and which volumes those chapters were from originally).
